Great River EnergyDoody Mechanical was recently awarded the contract for the 185,000 square foot Great River Energy Corporate Headquarters in Maple Grove, MN.  Great River Energy’s headquarters’ will be constructed on a 12.5 acre parcel located near Maple Grove’s new business/retail shopping district.  This campus will include corporate and executive offices, open office spaces, conference centers, a cafeteria, fitness center, central dock, underground parking, and a high-tech operating center.

Great River Energy Corporate HeadquartersGreat River Energy is a not-for-profit electrical generation and transmission cooperative and is the second largest electric utility in the state of Minnesota based on generating capacity.  The company provides wholesale electric energy and related services to 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Great River Energy distributes power to more than 590,000 homes, businesses and farms by serving approximately 1.7 million people.

Construction is expected to start in the fall of 2006 with occupancy occurring by the spring of 2008.  Currently, the project is seeking a Platinum Level rating, which is the highest possible rating as established by the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Environmental Design (LEED).

Green BuildingDoody Mechanical will seek to help achieve this rating by following the “Doody Green” philosophy.  Larry Rosenbower is a LEED Accredited Professional and will be the lead project manager throughout the duration of the project. It is our goal in the LEED process to bring value to the construction team by working up front to make the following economic impacts:

  • Reduce Operating Costs (High Efficiency Equipment)
  • Reduce/neutralize First Costs (downsizing equipment, alternate heating/cooling methods)
  • Reduce Overall Project Costs (integrating mechanical into the full scope of the building early)
