ROGERS, MN
| |
One of
the world's largest outfitters of hunting, fishing and outdoor
gear opened its newest retail outlet in Rogers, Minnesota in
October 2005 after breaking ground only eight months earlier.
Behind the merchandise and impressive displays at Cabela's
is the work of Larson Electric Systems, Inc., LeJeune Steel,
Doody Mechanical, Inc., API Supply, Inc. and Viking Automatic
Sprinkler Company.
The new location is Cabela's 3rd and largest store in Minnesota and is located
on approximately 40 acres about 10 miles northwest of Minneapolis near the intersection
of I-94 and MN Highway 101. The 185,000 square feet store also serves as an educational
and entertainment attraction that is expected to draw more than 6 million visitors
annually. |

Fire
Sprinkler Lines
|
Viking
Automatic Sprinkler Company
Viking Sprinkler was brought on board to install the fire sprinkler systems.
Work included installing 3 wet systems, 1 dry system and a 1500 gpm fire pump.
In total there
were 2360 sprinkler heads installed.
The owner was very particular about the
appearance of the exposed piping under the wood timber construction so all of
the
exposed piping above the main sales floor was painted prior to the installation.
A
notable challenge was the installation of the
piping
above the "mountain" on the main sales floor. Viking used a variety
of
special lifts supplied by API Supply, Inc. to meet those installation challenges.

This Cabela's project was very fast-paced, with no margin for
design errors in the field. The key element to the project's
success was the tremendous cooperation between
the APi Group companies
involved.
